 We started today's class looking at ACE class evaluations and then 2 fun formative assessments We got to see how much carbon dioxide is in ted's 3 class periods. looking at the chart it shows the first period class has the lowest and the 2nd period has the most levels. There is a spike in the graph due to a student blowing into the tester which detected a bunch of CO2.  Snowball earth:  We thawed because of volcanoes!!!! Albedo effect says if the earth is frozen white everything will reflect and it would never melt. Green house gases takes over and melted the snowball earth

 We started this lab discussing our interview with elders about climate change We next read a climate change article and the questions that goes with it are: 1. how bad is climate change now  2. How do scientists know 3. who is influencing key decisions 4. how do we stop fossil fuel emissions  5. Do environmental rules matter 6. Can insurance protect us 7.  April 18th We started today's class discussion our exam last week. After that we start talking about climate change which is a huge topic in today's world. We looked at a "hot" days chart for Des Moines. The chart is proves that more and more days are getting hotter which means most days in the future are going to be over 90 degrees. Iowa has millions of acres of land to grow corn which is huge but due to climate change how damaging is it? Due to the climate change (the rise in hotter days and more precipitation) means the Iowa agriculture will hurt from it. because of this change Iowa is adapting to many of these changes such as: wetter season, longer growing season, more summer precipitation, and higher humidity, and the fall will become dryer) Driving Question: How does climate change affect sea level? Sand in water Characteristics: - Colors: Brown, Green, White, and Clear - Size: Varying sizes - Appearance: Shiny 2. Dessert - Colors: Pink, Tan, Gray, White, and Orange - Size: Similar Size Appearance: Very nice to look at! Looks like Himalayan Salt 3.  Formative Assessment: What is a Rock? Activitymania Discussion: - A bunch of activities that is step by step that has a wrong answer at the end. This allows no room for creativity and using your own form of problem solving. We do this because it is easy for teachers to prepare and kids love it due to a lot of activities. -Assessment Discussion: We spent time talking about what assessments are to us. We talked about what kind of assessment was our last exam. We spent some time as a group discussing what we think the "curve" would be for our exam. Activity: In today's lab. we had to model the rock cycle. We had to melt starbursts representing 3 different kinds of rocks; Sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic rocks. Below are the 3 rocks that we had to recreate.

 March 21st We started today's class with a map of the south following with a question: How presidential elections are impacted by a 100 million year old coastline? Predictions: Hypothesis when you think these things first happened on earth? 1. Humans appeared 2. Dinosaurs ruled earth 3. First land plants 4. First land animals  5. Moon was created:  My group ranking:  Moon, plants, animals, dinosaurs, humans Fun facts: T-rex live closer to humans then stegosaurus we got to take a look at this earth website to see how different the earth billions of years ago.
