Week 3 Post

 Week 3 Blog

Monday January 21st

In today's class we started off with reviewing last week's lab and lecture. After discussing those topics we started a new topic which is showing patterns of motion by using a graph. We graphed the speed of John and Julie and were looking at the slope of the lines to see who was faster. We have concluded Julie runs faster than John.

We were asked why graph motion:

Because it represents patterns in motion

Show multiple objects on the same graph

On a position versus time graph, the slope of the line is SPEED

Our next activity in lab is slides! A big question we talked about in lab is what effects a rider speed down a slide?

The variables we can test for the speed of a slide is temperature, steepness, kids clothes, material of slide, hight of slide, etc.

When modeling the variables we are able to test for is the child's weight, steepness, height, and kids clothes

We built an experiment about if the weight on an object effected the speed and at the end of the experiment we concluded that weight has really no impact on speed.
